Collocations

Collocations are a combination of words that commonly go together. For example, the words, 'merry' and 'happy', have the same meaning but for correct collocation, we say 'happy birthday' and not 'merry birthday' while we say 'merry christmas' and not usually 'happy christmas' unless you're John Lennon! Other examples of collocations are phrasal verbs('look up' a word in a dictionary) and idioms('a storm in a teacup'). To test your knowledge of collocations, look at the YouTube quizzes!
